The Jewelry Expert would be responsible for the pricing of the fine jewelry at Brown Button as well as all the jewelry at Circle Auction. Tasks include correctly identifying fine jewelry, identifying gemstones, grading diamonds, recognizing when an additional outside appraisal or evaluation is required, researching market price, cataloging all the jewelry for auction, interacting with potential buyers to answer questions, as well as evaluating and pricing fine jewelry items from Brown Button Estate Sales. Required skills include identifying costume vs fine jewelry, identifying precious metals, recognizing jewelry designer and brand markings, and some training in grading diamonds and identifying gemstones. Certification as a gemologist is helpful but not required. As the tasks and amount of jewelry fluctuates from week to week we are open to a discussion around flexible hours and schedule.
Pay is between $20 and $30 depending on qualification and experience.
