At Brown Button Estate Sales, our online estate sales depend on a tight-knit team working together to transform a home into a clean, organized, shoppable digital catalog. Catalogers are at the heart of this process.
As a Cataloger, you’ll work alongside your team lead, photographer, and senior cataloger to sort items, stage spaces, write clear and accurate listings, and help prepare the home for photography and customer pickup.

What You’ll Do
On-Site Sorting, Staging & Project Setup
- Work in clients’ homes with your team to sort household items into clear, sellable groupings
- Identify logical categories, natural lot groupings, and standout pieces needing special attention
- Stage and organize items for photography using Brown Button’s 80/20 approach
- Help create clean, safe, and efficient work areas throughout the home
- Move small furniture or décor pieces as needed to support workflow (light physical work)
Cataloging & Lot Creation
- Build accurate, appealing online listings using Brown Button’s cataloging platform
- Assign lot titles, write concise descriptions, and note condition issues
- Add important details such as brand names, materials, model numbers, measurements, etc.
- Ensure lots meet Brown Button’s written and visual standards for clarity and professionalism
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency to keep the project on timeline
Photography Support (as needed)
- Assist the photographer with staging or moving lower-value or bulk lots
- Prepare items so they are clean, complete, and photo-ready
- Photograph lots when necessary to keep the project on track utilizing the photography manual & standards.
Customer Pickup Preparation & Support
- Apply lot number stickers accurately and consistently
- Wrap and bag items to keep them safe for customers
- Organize packaged lots for fast, efficient retrieval
- Greet customers warmly and help retrieve purchased items on pickup days
- Ensure customers receive all parts of their lot before leaving
- Maintain a calm, professional presence during busy pickup windows
Team Collaboration
- Communicate clearly with the team lead, senior cataloger, and photographer
- Ask clarifying questions to ensure accuracy and high-quality work
- Support your team by jumping in wherever help is needed
- Adapt quickly as priorities shift—especially during active project days
Who You Are
- Organized, detail-minded, and focused
- A good writer who can produce clear, concise descriptions
- Someone who enjoys both hands-on tasks and computer-based work
- Positive and team-oriented—you show up ready to help your team succeed
- Comfortable working in private homes with care, respect, and professionalism
- Able to lift and carry up to 30–40 lbs and be on your feet much of the day
- Bonus: experience with resale, cataloging, product listing, photography, or antiques (not required)
