Brown Button Awarded 25 Under 25 and Ranks on Ingram’s Top 100

In 2017, Brown Button was honored to receive two significant local business awards.

Early this year, we were thrilled to be among the recipients of Thinking Bigger Business Media’s 25 Under 25® Awards, an annual event recognizing outstanding small businesses in Kansas City. All nominees for this award have fewer than 25 full-time employees, have operated a for-profit business for three years or more, and are located in the Greater KC area. At the time of the award, Brown Button’s hardworking, all-star team numbered 18 members, including both full and part-time employees.

According to the Thinking Bigger website, “Companies are judged on their financial stability, ability to overcome adversity and challenges, community involvement, distinguishing or defining characteristics and company vision.”  Nearly 1,500 companies were nominated for the 2017 awards.

In July, Brown Button gained a second Kansas City business award — this one from Ingram’s Magazine.  After demonstrating a three-year sales growth of 326.25% (average annual growth of 108.75%), Brown Button was honored to rank number nine on Ingram’s KC Corporate Report of the area’s 100 fastest growing companies.

Two of Brown Button’s founders, Michael Fry and Rachelle Fry, were featured on the cover of Ingram’s Magazine along with the other top-ranking business leaders who won this award.

From the magazine:

Many an entrepreneur has succeeded by lasering in on a higher-end clientele and Brown Button Estate Sale Services is proof that the concept works in the realm of estate sales, too. “We host luxury estate sales—personal asset liquidation—for families in the Kansas City Metro area and are relocating or downsizing,” says Michael Fry, an owner/partner. “We also offer a consignment service for those that might not have enough personal assets for us to host a sale inside their home.” The company got its start after he, his brother and their wives recognized a niche in the estate-sale industry that many companies were not capitalizing on: luxury sales.

“We noticed that we could do far more revenue by serving the luxury client effectively.” That involves set-up, staging, pricing and inventorying almost every item in a client’s home. Once it’s ready for the sale, the staff goes to work to create a boutique-like environment inside the home. Growth is grounded in serving clients and guests with integrity and professionalism, he says.

Both the Ingram’s and Thinking Bigger awards gave us some exciting moments to celebrate this year, but we would be remiss if we didn’t give a ton of credit to our stellar team, our amazing clients, and loyal estate sale adventurers. Thank you for helping us make an impact on the Kansas City estate sale scene.
